“Together for the Environment and Biodiversity” Campaign

Boas Quintas and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mortágua have just launched the “Together for the Environment and Biodiversity” campaign, which aims to preserve the environment and biodiversity through the joint sale of nest boxes for birds and Quinta da Giesta wine . The money gained fully reverts to Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mortágua, namely for the social responses of the disability.

This campaign assumes environmental and social objectives:

• The placement of nests in outdoor spaces contributes to the increase of the number of birds and the preservation of species, and the presence of some types of insectivorous birds provides a sustainable way of combating the pests of the vineyards;
• The construction of nest boxes, made in wood, by the users of the Center for Occupational Activities of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mortágua, contributes to the development of their cognitive and motor skills.

Each nest is sold with a Quinta da Giesta bottle inside. There is also a kit version created to encourage adults to build “bird houses” with children, instilling environmental sensitivity in a playful way.

Each nest box and wine set has a cost of € 25, and can be purchased at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mortágua, at the Boas Quintas winery and at ExpoMortágua.

Also within the scope of this campaign, for each Quinta da Giesta botle that is sold (identified with a choker), Boas Quintas contributes with a percentage of sales for Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mortágua.
