Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate has distinguished Fonte do Ouro Wines

Mark Squires has distinguished Fonte do Ouro Wines, with 90 or more points, in the last edition of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

The reviews were:

Fonte do Ouro Grand Reserve 2013 (92 points)

Fonte do Ouro Dão Nobre White 2015 (90 points)

Fonte do Ouro Touriga Nacional 2015 (90 points)

Fonte do Ouro Reserve 2015 (89 points)

Nuno Cancela de Abreu, the winemaker, mentioned:  “this distinction is a result of the commitment and consistency of our work, and we are pround and very motivated to continue to surprise”.

Fonte do Ouro Grand Reserve Red Wine 2013 is a blend  of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Jaen. About his wine, that aged for 18 months, Mark Squires made the following comment: “a precise and gripping finish and excellent balance,” adding that “The underlying fruit, all primary, seems gorgeous.”

Fonte do Ouro Dão Nobre 2015, the first portuguese white wine with that classification, “Dão Nobre”,  (with grape varieties Encruzado, Arinto e Cerceal Branco), was praised for Mark Squires, which mentioned that “it should age well, holding for at least a decade from vintage date”.

Fonte do Ouro Touriga Nacional Special Reserve 2015 aged for 12 months in oak barrels, and has a floral aroma, with violets and bergamots, ripe gooseberry, combined with wood. “The 13.5% of alcohol gives this wine an excellent structure and aroma”, said the critic.

Fonte do Ouro Reserva Red Wine 2015, is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaen. This wine aged for 9 months in oak barrels. Mark Squires highlighted the “expressive fruit and freshness, well defined, that make this wine a delight to drink.”
