Prestige and Gold in the “Dão Best Wines Awards 2017”

Fonte do Ouro Touriga Nacional Special Reserve 2015 was recently awarded with “Prestige” in “Dão Best Bottled Wines Awards 2017” organized by Dão Wine Commission. Fonte do Ouro Reserve 2015 and Fonte do Ouro Encruzado 2016 obtained Gold Medals.

The competition jury was composed by the Chambers of Proofers of several CVR’s and was chaired by Luis Ramos Lopes, Director of the Magazine “Wines Great Choices”. 138 wine DOP Dão samples DOP were evaluated, from 39 economic agents.

Fonte do Ouro Touriga Nacional Special Reserve 2015 has a floral aroma, with violets and bergamots, ripe gooseberry and wood. With robust, but soft, tannins, this is a wine of great balance and complexity.

Fonte do Ouro Reserve 2015, is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaen. It has red fruits and chocolate aromas and is well married with wood. Good tannins stand out. The complexity and persistence is remarkable.

These red wines are very gastronomic and go well with game meat (deer, boar), red meats and well-seasoned baked goods.

Fonte do Ouro Encruzado 2016 proves to be very aromatic, highlighting white and citrus fruits, with notes of oak. Good structure, fresh, very mineral and elegant, it goes well with grilled or oven fish, delicatessen and ewe cheese.

These wines were also distinguished in international competitions. Fonte do Ouro Reserve 2015 was awarded with gold in the Brussels International Competition and silver in the International Wine Challenge. In this last contest, Fonte do Ouro Touriga Nacional Special Reserve 2015 was also awarded with a silver medal.
