Guessing a higher 2015 Harvest

Now, with full tanks, we gather conditions to present the Boas Quintas 2015 Harvest Report in the Dão wine region, fully secure that the purity and organoleptic finesse of musts and wines, as well as their balance allow us to guessing a higher harvest.

In early September an unusual serenity reigned in the vineyard, after the whites harvest period that started on the 11th, which showed a good yield, the harvest was suspended on 15th and 16th dued to light rain. The sunny and windy days that followed came to accelerate the maturation and, above all, the concentration of sugar and aromas. The work continued for another 12 consecutive days of superb harvest which brought red grapes full of color, body and aroma, which fermented in the greater quietness.

The prediction of exceptional quality of this vintage makes us yearn for Whites with surprising aromatic potential marked by white fruits in Encruzado, citric and tropical in Arinto and floral in Malvasia. In turn, the Reds wines have become genuinely clean in the aroma with emphasis on red fruits, with great tannins without excessive astringency and a remarkable acidity, characteristic of the region, which provides good aging conditions.

The grapes Encruzado and Arinto proved to be election varieties for white once again, as in red, the Touriga Nacional showed its exuberance in the aroma and balanced acidity and alcohol. As for Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaen also gave rise to consistent wines with body and elegant aromas.
